iPhone 15 Pro Max will be The Best-Selling Model; Thanks to Its 12MP Periscope Lens

iPhone 15 Pro Max will be The Best-Selling Model: Apple lovers around the world are eagerly awaiting the official announcement of the iPhone 15 lineup, rumored to be just a few weeks away. Among the highly anticipated models, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is garnering significant attention due to its unique feature – a periscope lens designed to provide exceptional optical zoom capabilities. According to renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, this exclusive feature is poised to make the iPhone 15 Pro Max the best-selling model in the lineup.

iPhone 15 Pro Max will be The Best-Selling Model, Thanks to Its Periscope Lens!

Kuo’s recent report sheds light on Apple’s strategy, suggesting that the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to account for a substantial portion, approximately 35% to 40%, of total shipments within the iPhone 15 series. This focus on the more expensive Pro Max variant signals Apple’s optimism regarding the periscope lens’s selling point. Moreover, estimated shipments for the iPhone 15 Pro Max for the remainder of the year have seen a remarkable increase of approximately 10% compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 14 Pro, during the same timeframe.

“It means Apple is optimistic about the selling point of the periscope, which is only available in iPhone 15 Pro Max,” Kuo emphasized in his report.

The integration of a periscope lens is a significant leap for Apple’s iPhone camera technology. This innovation dramatically enhances the optical zoom range, fulfilling a long-standing desire of iPhone users, particularly professional photographers. Competing smartphones, such as Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra, have already incorporated periscope lens technology, making it a much-awaited addition to the iPhone ecosystem.

Curiously, Apple has chosen to reserve the periscope lens exclusively for the more expensive iPhone 15 Pro Max this year, potentially accompanying it with a price increase of up to $200. One possible reason behind this decision, as noted by Kuo, is the significantly higher unit cost of a periscope lens compared to conventional lenses. The intricate engineering required for a periscope lens, which allows for a more extended optical zoom range without increasing the device’s physical thickness, contributes to its higher cost. This premium technology may be the driving force behind positioning it in the flagship Pro Max model.

iPhone 15 Pro Max - The Best-Selling Model

While the periscope lens remains a feature limited to the iPhone 15 Pro Max in the current lineup, Kuo has corroborated rumors that it will find its way into the smaller iPhone 16 Pro model next year. This suggests that Apple is keen on expanding the availability of this advanced camera technology across its product range.

In the lead-up to the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s release, there were concerns regarding potential delays in mass production due to supply chain challenges. However, it appears that Apple has managed these challenges effectively and is poised to commence mass shipments of all the new iPhones. The company’s ambitious production target aims to ship approximately 80 million iPhone 15 units by the end of this year and an astounding 250 million units throughout 2024, underscoring Apple’s relentless commitment to its flagship product.

The iPhone 15 series as a whole is rumored to feature a fresh design with gently rounded edges, a transition to the USB-C port, and the introduction of the Dynamic Island concept across all models. The Pro models, including the iPhone 15 Pro Max, are expected to receive an upgraded display with narrower bezels, the powerful A17 chip and iOS 17 operating system for enhanced performance, and, of course, the highly-anticipated periscope lens.

Apple traditionally unveils its new iPhone models during a special September event, and enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the official announcement. The company is expected to reveal the event date soon, setting the stage for the launch of the iPhone 15 series, with the iPhone 15 Pro Max poised to steal the spotlight with its groundbreaking periscope lens technology.
